We know your child is probably nervous about getting new braces, or that as an adult, you certainly don’t want them. No one wants a mouth full of metal, and you or your child might be hesitant about changing your smile. But with today’s technology, patients now have more options and more control over what their treatment will be and how long it will last. And when the braces finally do come off, you or your child will have a beautiful, healthy smile inside and out. It’s going to be worth it.
At Demko Orthodontics, we specialize in orthodontic treatment. Braces are used to align and straighten teeth in order to not only improve appearance, but to also improve form and function by correcting malocclusions and other imperfections of the teeth and jaws.
Your first visit will begin with a consultation with Dr. Demko to review the best treatment alternatives for your orthodontic care. Our team will explain the treatment process and will be happy to address any questions you may have regarding your treatment plan.
Types of Braces and Orthodontic Appliances
TRADITIONAL BRACES
Traditional braces consist of brackets that attach to the teeth and are connected by a wire. This wire and bracket system is used to shift the teeth into proper alignment. Traditional braces can be metal or ceramic (clear). Sometimes rubber bands, springs, and other devices are used in the process to achieve the desired results.
Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive, so you can be picture perfect even with some new mouth-ware.
Clear Braces
Ceramic braces are made of a translucent material and are most popular with adult patients due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawback is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.
Gold Braces
Gold braces are made of stainless steel and coated with 24-karat gold. They’re popular with patients of all ages.
LightForce
With LightForce you get braces built for you - and only you. All your doctor needs is a digital scan of your teeth to design your custom treatment plan virtually. LightForce braces fit every tooth perfectly to maximize comfort, reduce breakage, and improve straightening accuracy.
LightForce braces provide comfortable, more efficient treatment with shorter treatment times and fewer office visits.
GAC Mystique
Mystique offers the subtlety of a retainer with the strength of metal braces. While remarkably translucent, they’re impossible to discolor. They go on easily and can be removed just like ordinary metal appliances. They’re ultra smooth, providing excellent sliding mechanics while maintaining the strength of metal appliances.
Invisalign® Clear Aligners
It’s never too late to straighten your smile! Invisalign® clear aligners offer both teens and adults a comfortable and affordable orthodontic solution without the look and feel of traditional metal braces. You just switch to a new set of aligners as directed by Dr. Demko until your treatment is complete.
